ASG Parent and Child Show celebrates
15 years in Auckland

1993 was a big year for mums and bubs. Sesame Street had been entertaining kids for 25 years, Mrs Doubtfire was one of the most popular children's movies, Thunderbirds toys were the best-selling toys worldwide, and the very first Parent and Child Show took place in Auckland.

Fifteen years on and the ASG Parent and Child Show is still the place to be for everything from baby buggies to bottles and bibs. The Show returns to the ASB Showgrounds, Greenlane on 31 October through to 2 November 2008.

The 15th anniversary of the popular Show will see some very special additions. World-renowned infant learning expert, Dr Robert Titzer, will be at the ASG Parent and Child Show to spread the word on his 'Your Baby Can Read' programme, and the importance of teaching children to read well before they begin school.

Exhibitors have nearly tripled since the ASG Parent and Child Show began and 2008 will see more than 200 exhibitors all under one roof. As the demands of child rearing have changed over the past 15 years, so has the range of exhibitors at the Show to meet the diverse needs of visitors. Everything from maternity, antenatal and infant accessories through to nutritional food, information and educational products for babies and young children will be available at the event.

The 2008 Show welcomes a range of new exhibitors including Australian maternity and baby boutique Bay Bee Cino, Smart Bikes, The Fun Warehouse and Pipi Child. All-time favourites returning to the event are The Baby Factory, ASG, Huggies, Treasures, Kiwi Baby Plunket and many more.

“The Show covers every baby base and offers a one-stop-shop for parents experiencing this particularly special phase of life,” says North Port Events general manager Rebecca Stewart.

The ASG Parent and Child Show offers parenting seminars to answer questions and concerns and provide information and support.  Child care guru, author and television presenter Diane Levy will present a series of free seminars throughout the Show.  Further seminar sessions will cover topics including: understanding baby-body-language signs; infant nutrition; safer sleeping for babies; and winding your baby.

While parents are kept busy with exhibitors and seminars, children of all ages will be enthralled by a range of activities on the entertainment stage.

Children will be thrilled to see cartoon sensation SpongeBob SquarePants on Sunday, as part of the non-stop stage programme which includes dancing, storytelling and sing-along amusement.

The ASG Parent and Child Show is a child-friendly zone, includes a crèche and a Parents' Room for feeding and changing, and is a must for all family calendars.
